The Edge Function.
The edge function serves to cut acute angles in thicker materials. An acute angle is made by a stop of the cutting head into the edge of the work-piece, by piercing in the work-piece for a certain time and by cutting over a certain distance with reduced speed and power, after the corner. By using the edge function it is possible to proceed without you needing to program it into the work-piece program. The corner between two consecutive contour elements is determined by the FANUC controller and is compared with the judgement angle for the edge function. If the calculated angle is smaller than the judgement angle the edge function is automatically activated. The necessary parameters are defined beforehand in the technology file
