Как перевести на английский выражения: "разводить на деньги" и "тот еще" (e.g. "он был тот еще переводчик")?

Мне нужно перевести следующее:
"После того, как у них закончилась выпивка, они решили развести на деньги одного своего приятеля".
Речь, все-таки, не идет об обмане, мошенничестве etc.

Фраза так и звучит: "Он был тот еще переводчик". (то бишь, видимо, не очень хороший переводчик он был). Вместо "переводчик", в общем-то, возможно все что угодно.
