Птичье молоко в Австралии: Slightly south of Margaret River town, is the Witchie Cafe. It's run by an Australian wife and his Russian-born wife. While everything we had was truly tasty, it was her Bird's Milk Cake that was out of this world. It's a VERY moist milky-white bundt cake with a thin biscuit-like base. The rest of it was milky, not quite custardy, soft almost souffle-like.... For the life of me, I couldn't figure it out. Neither could my mom and she's a really good cook. If you're heading to Margaret River Town, do your tastebuds a favour and stop in for a slice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If anyone know's where I can get a recipe (the Russian lady was quite tight-lip except to say that there was semolina in it! - она знала, что ей не поверят. - я)...please let me know. "наши" - это я из патриотизма. Мне за державу, в лице Russian-born wife, приятно. (Кстати, обратите внимание, что коала пришел в такой восторг от торта, что забыл слова и у него все wifes.). а торт можно назвать как угодно, после винишка "Либфраумильх" никого ничем не удивишь. |
| Прошу пардона, не так поняла. Винишко, кстати, приятное, только название какое-то извращенное. Птичье молоко - энто ладно, символ нечто эдакового, невиданного. А вы в какой части глобуса не спите по ночам? Не в Украине ли? ("Та я и не спорю") |

браво, nephew! Liebfraumilch (also sometimes refered to by Top Cat lookalikes as "Leaf Brown Milk") is a sweet white German wine. The name is a German word literally meaning "Beloved lady's milk". It is a favourite tipple of Derek Trotter. The correct German spelling of the word is Liebfrauenmilch, given to the wine produced from the vineyards of the Liebfrauenkirche or Church of Our Lady in the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Worms since the 18th Century. Liebfrauenmilch is a high quality hock of very limited distribution. The Valckenberg wine company sells their wine produced in the original vineyard, "Liebfrauenstift-Kirchenstьck," under the name "MADONNA Liebfraumilch," although ironically it is not legally a Liebfraumilch, but rather a QmP. Berdy Special to The Moscow Times In Russian fairy tales, when the beautiful princess wants to test the ardor and resourcefulness of her suitor, she sends him out into the wilderness to find and bring back the one fantastical luxury she doesn't have: bird's milk (ptichye moloko). Bird's milk doesn't, of course, exist. The phrase is used to describe some rare treasure that only exists in the imagination. But in the 1970s, all that changed. First, the Red October factory made a candy called Ptichye Moloko. Vladimir Guralnik, the head of the confectionary shop at the Praga restaurant in Moscow, tried it and decided to recreate it as a cake. It took six months of experimentation before he and his assistants figured out a way of making the exquisitely light souffle that fills this unusual cake.
