И хотя Черная смерть была не единственной исторической силой, повлиявшей на развитие культуры в Европе, и к тому же этого явления не достаточно для объяснения изменений, происходящих в современной Европе, безусловно, эта чума сыграла ключевую роль в историческом процессе. Рассказы о Черной смерти переходили из поколения в поколение, и сама эпидемия оказало огромное влияние на развитие европейских культур.
