alarm relay - сигнализационное (сигнальное) реле /оба термина употребимы/,
а перед этим у Вас никакая chain не встречалась, а то, может, это реле и срабатывает на неполадки в работе цепи, упоминаемой выше?

Net, there's been no "chain" - it's the section "Electrical Checks Prior to Start-Up" and it is the first and the last time the "chain" appears at all :(
