Drop the guns immediately after perforating. This requires a special connector called a drop sub, sufficient wellbore depth below the completion, a wellbore deviation less than about 60 degrees and prior installation of the upper completion. In these circumstances, the well can be perforated with an initial underbalance, the guns dropped and the well immediately placed on production. This is the least damaging of the three choices.
