Благоустройство и озеленение -- landscaping landscaping by the 111 team of volunteer youth workers and children from the 222 Center of areas around the houses of lone veterans of WWII and Labor living ...
просто yard (and garden) work |
2nd World War. |
olias you would be surprised how many know now. but it may still be a good idea to write WWII |
and to make it clearer.... Gr. P. War is not technically WWII if you look at the descriptions in most foreign textbooks |
Maybe many of them know. But majority still don't. |
Otechestvennaya Voyna: usage: Russia and other states of the former Soviet Union what is it? word to describe the war of 1941 to 1945 between Nazi Germany and its Axis allies and the Soviet Union. There is a semantic difference between this term and "World War II". The Russian word refers to the war between Germany and the USSR. The Far East front and the war on the Western front that occurred before the USSR was invaded are not referred to by this term. |
All in all technically speaking GPW is a part of WWII. |
so let them do some research and make themselves a bit more in tune with culture and world history :) you cant change what something is just becasue someone might not know what you are talking about. WWII is the wrong term here so i recant my "maybe you should write WWII" which i said up there. |
olias EXACTLY - a PART of it, but not it. so you cant call a part of something by the name for the whole thing. a semicircle is not a circle any way you look at it. |
Well maybe you're right. I didn't read foreign textbooks. |
Otechestvennaya Voyna: usage: Russia and other states of the former Soviet Union what is it? word to describe the war of 1941 to 1945 between Nazi Germany and its Axis allies and the Soviet Union. Not quite. 'Otechestvennaya Voyna' by itself historically refers to Napoleon's invasion of 1812; to avoid confusion 'Velikaya' is usually added whenever the war of 1941-45 is meant. |
and its not even foreign texts. it's russian texts as well. the fact is that the gpw is only PART of WWII and cannot be called WWII just because you feel bad for the guy who will have to go look it up if he doesnt know what it is and wants to know shumov |

если писать the Great Patriotic War, то тогда надо указывать и годы.
