I've never heard of such an idiom. In Russian, we say съесть собаку (to eat a dog) which means to acquire a good experience.

2 solidrain - this link relates to fauna, namely, animals which eat snakes (smth like the spider that eats birds). i consider this wording to be an idiom, however...
well, i see you're a persistent one. thank you!
but still...

Good morning. It's actually very good. There's lots of sun, some snow and it's my brother's birthday so we just had amazing chocolate cake for breakfast.

Snake eater- there's a playstation game by that name. It takes place just after ww2 and there's a leading character who's Russian.

Snake blower - blow snakes - is a jazz expression. to play great jazz.

My brother insists that there is an army term 'snake eater' but he doesn't know what it means. I tried to look for it on the ineternet but found this:

snake mode
(NATO) A control mode in which the pursuing aircraft flies a programmed weaving flight path to allow time to accomplish identification functions.

Snake - cobra helicopter

Outside these I have no idea what it means. I am sorry. I promise to ask around and continue looking. If I find/think of anything will let you know.
