Subject: synthesis gas compressor in vendor package 1.2.3 Synthesis Area Instrumentation and ControlOur company recommends that the following instrumentation, safety logic and control issues are addressed by your company:
• Update the compressor curves for the synthesis gas compressor in vendor package in order to restore anti-surge control to good working order
• Repair or replace the steam let down valve PV-8401. You should consider this a high priority since it impacts both the efficiency and reliability of the plant.
• Consider implementing HIGH-HIGH reactor Bed temperature alarms
• Modify Recycle gas pressure control strategy changes as described in section 3.4.3
• You should consider replacing all butterfly valves used in for reactor bed temperature control with a different type for improved resolution and bed temperature control.
