Subject: отделение острых термических поражений
Does anyone know what this is in English? Is it 'serious thermal injury'? Could it be 'heavy burn unit'? Thank you.

"Термические поражения" is the synonym for "ожоги", thus "отделение термических поражений" is "burn unit" (- or "burns unit"?), and "острый" - you may choose from serious/critical/heavy/acute/etc. - I think you know it better.
A propos, there is the "Queen"'s album called "Sheer Heart Attack" which is usually translated as "Острый сердечный приступ". Do you consider it's correct?

2User - thank you. I called it critical burn unit

Re. Queen - I think "sheer" here is used more along the lines of this definition: Free from admixture or adulterants; unmixed: sheer alcohol. See Synonyms at pure.

As in Pure Heart Attack, to mean that the music is so powerful, so intense, it's like a heart attack, nothing more.

Острый сердечный приступ does not seem to reflect the 'rock n roll' quality of the album title, it sound more like a medical condition, unfortunately.

друзья, вы совсем забыли про обморожения, а ведь это тоже острые термические поражения. не надо все сводить к ожогам
