Подскажите, пожалуйста, по какому критерию выбрать из двух вариантов. Есть ли правило? Или варианты идентичны?

I usually go to the library which is near our house.
I usually go to the library that is near our house.
(Я обычно хожу в библиотеку, которая находится вблизи от нашего дома.)

There is a subtle but important difference between the use of that and which in a sentence, and it has to do primarily with relevance. Grammarians often use the terms "restrictive" and "non-restrictive" when it comes to relative clauses. A relative clause provides additional information about the noun it describes, but it may be considered relevant or irrelevant to the overall point of the sentence. In other words, a restrictive relative clause, which often begins with that, is usually considered essential or restrictive. Relative clauses beginning with which may contain non-essential information and would be considered non-restrictive.

Thus when there's a restrictive clause you need to use 'that'. Otherwise, that is with non-resttrictive clause, you need to use 'which'.

Я задавалась как-то пару лет назад этим вопросом. Помнится, пришла к выводу, что в случае restrictive relative clause можно использовать that или which без запятой, а в случае non-restrictive clause - which с запятой.
Сразу оговорюсь, я тогда видела книги, которые запрещали which в первом случае, и видела книги, которые его разрешали.

Есть ещё третий вариант I usually go to the library, which is near our house. Там emphasis меняется.

Обычно я хожу в ту библиотеку, которая рядом с домом.
Я частенько хожу в библиотеку. Кстати, она неподалеку от моего дома.

Простите, порядок у меня не тот. That указывает на конкретную библиотеку, a which обозначает дополнение, которое можно удалить (это и есть главный критерий).
