Это правильно? Что там по поводу book? Ассоциируется с книгами.

"С книгами", как один из вариантов, "мы накажем вас по полной программе".

"С книгами", in my opinion, has nothing to do with "мы вас накажем" unless there was some very unusual and particular context. To call that a translation, I believe, is quite a stretch. Again, this is my opinion.

it has to do with the book in a sense that let's say, there was a law in 1309 against wearing red on sundays, so, we will look in the book, and hit you with the result :))
to look up things, that are generally done by everyone, everybody gets away with it, and administer a toughest punishment there ever was for that offense.
" throw a book at you", to the fullest extent of a law.

Danila, this is an interesting example of how the use or not of an indefinite or definite article can change entirely the meaning of a phrase. Quite frankly, with the indefinite article "throw a book", the meaning "punish to the full extent of the law" did not even occur to me. Your explanation made it click with me although I believe the phrase is used with the definite article. It's a fairly narrow usage, though. Anyway, thanks.

The law is the law. no matter what book it is, especially, when it comes to punishing in a legit manner. but yea, with "the" it would be more comprehensive.. oh, well, we didn't accustom people to this expression, so it isn't us to get blamed when semantical stuff hit the fan:))

it's ok to say things anyway you please, as long as you know who you talking at ;)
some'd prefer to pullout a 1954 dusty dictionary and find a least likely interpretation in it, basically - throwing book out'o'spite;)
