Syrira's idea looks very likely.

It's probably a deliberately misspelt version of 'demi-tasse' to reflect Mrs Wong's accent: it's either:
* a (Chinese?) accent, or
* a local (Gloucestershire) accent, or
* an affected accent because she's trying to sound aristocratic, or
* she just doesn't know how to pronounce it because it's foreign (French).
