Subject: open door operation bel.usg. Locally opening/closing 750-13,800 V disconnecting devices (breakers, disconnect switches) at the MCC, switch rack, or distribution switchgear level with the enclosure fully secured.Racking in/out 380-13,800 V motor starters (contactors or circuit breakers) or distribution circuit breakers as designed. This includes removing/inserting 380 V MCC "cans" on energized bus. Manual tripping of circuit breakers utilized at 750 to 15,000 V with enclosure intact. Racking in/out 2,400-13,800 V Potential Transformers (PTs) and Control Power Transformer (CPT) primary fuses. Removing/installing energized 380 volt PT and Ground Detection System pull a part fuse blocks (not exposed). Locally opening/closing 15-230 kV non-load break air disconnect switches whose load has been removed, 15-230 kV circuit breakers, and 15-230 kV circuit switchgears. Switching circuit breakers designed for **open door operation** (Ex: Westinghouse DS Breakers) Routine switching: Generic or Specific Switching Operating Procedure or SWP Non-routine switching: Specific Operating Procedure or SWP Class A-1 Energized Electrical Work Class A-1 energized electrical work has the most restrictive requirements, and can only be performed after a Pre-Task Analysis and with Two Electrical Skilled Persons present (see table below for complete requirements). If you are asked to issue a Safe Work Permit for Class A-1 energized electrical work, please make sure you engage your facility electrical representative. |
