Subject: signature alliance Germany recognized the special challenges of electronic transactions at a very early stage. The first German Act on Electronic Signatures (SigG) dates back to June 1997. It was amended in 2005 in order to facilitate the handling of cash cards and to create further synergetic effects. Signaturbuendnis ("Signature Alliance") At the Federal Government's initiative, the public-private "Signature Alliance" was founded in Berlin on 3 April 2003 with the goal of promoting the use of electronic signatures in Germany. The Alliance's vision is that citizens will be able to use any chip card and any card reader with a wide range of - ideally all - available applications for e-commerce and e-government. |
