The roller race absorbs the major portion of the radial load on the cutter with the nose bearing absorbing the lesser amount. Thrust loads are parallel to the bearing centerline. Figure 2.24 shows the different load components. The drill collars pushing down on the bit apply weight on bit (WOB). This load is transferred to the teeth via the cones. The WOB can be resolved in a radial load and an outward thrust load. The roller races and journal bearings/pilot pins carry the radial load and the thrust face and balls carry the thrust load.

The roller race принимает (на себя) бОльшую часть радиальной нагрузки на the cutter, а меньшая часть нагрузки приходится на the nose bearing.
