Depends on where you work and what is your level - in general it's almost always either simultaneous or consecutive interpretation (16-40$/hr before tax). Some companies pay mileage/ travel time and pay minimum for 2 hours. They don't need too much english/russian translation - except documents may be. If certified - you can ask whatever you want especially if working directly with client. But mostly interpreters here are independent contractors. Of course there are exclusions such as working for large company, translating books etc. But mostly it's medical, legal. By the way to work in court you have to be certified. But I know interpreters who are making somewhere between 60-100 thousand a year but they work A LOT.

ksyusha123, а Вы бы могли вот также подробно рассказать о тарифах (расценках) на письменный перевод — за слово. Словом, как я понял, в США давно уже не считается Paris, и число слов в переводимом документе определяется посредством Word?

ставки за слово оригинала обычно начинаются от 0.10 ам доллара или 0.08 евро

но есть желающие заплатить поменьше.
они обычно идут дорогой в сад..

Brains, I can't answer this question because as I said it's mostly interpretation - not translation (because of the low demand). Now and then I would translate basic documents (birth certificates, diplomas, etc.) but I was paid a flat fee (20-30$$) per document. I bet there are people on this forum who are familiar with all the details regarding translating of written materials.
