In amphibious operations, operations led by units of the amphibious force, and detached forward of this force, in order to prepare the AOA
Amphibious objective area
, and especially to reduce the threat. Taking place before the landing, these operations always comprise one last reconnaissance of the breaching sites. They can include mine warfare operations, air actions, fires aimed at the ground as well as the destruction of underwater or ground obstacles.
