slate [sleɪt] n
ciném. The recorded identification of scene and take numbers, usually done with a clapboard. Most takes are identified at the beginning; a "tail slate" marks the end instead. Also used in an audition, to identify an actor's name, representation if any, and the scene they will be performing in the audition.
