milit., logist. The role of the MAIN CP, where the Force's commander normally stands, is to plan the manoeuvre at its level, and to conduct it in its area of responsibility. At the same tactical level, should several CPs be armed, only one of them assumes the function of MAIN CP. The transfer of operational direction from one to the other is called "release". (FRA)
