intermediate approach

aviat., canad. That part of an instrument approach procedure IAP between the intermediate approach fix IF or waypoint and the final approach fix FAF, waypoint or point, or between the end of a track reversal, racetrack or dead-reckoning track procedure and the FAF, waypoint or point, as appropriate. It is in this part of the procedure that aircraft configuration, speed and positioning adjustments are made for entry into the final approach segment.
