The POL unit is the volume of petroleum, oils, and lubricants necessary for: 1. loaded tracked or wheeled vehicles to move 100 km on a dry and flat road at an average speed; 2. aircraft to fly 3 hours at a medium operational altitude and cruising speed; 3. other fixed or mobile equipment engineer vehicles, quartermaster equipment, power units, boats, food preparation equipment. to operate in standard conditions for a 3, 6, 9, or 12 hour period.
