freeze frame ['friːzˌfreɪm]
abrév., téléc. freeze-frame (ssn); freezeframe (ssn)
ciném. An optical printing effect whereby a single frame is repeated to give the illusion that all action has stopped. Often used by Martin Scorsese. Contrast with stop motion.
