(FRA)
;
In artillery usage, a tactical mission in which one artillery unit augments the fire of another artillery unit. 2. The process of relocating forces, in accordance with the Strategic Concept, to any area at risk within and beyond the Alliance's area of responsibility, in order to strengthen military capabilities as a means of conflict prevention, crisis management or defence. 3. A range of organizational, combat and special measures by a higher authority to increase the capability of a major formation, tactical formation or unit to perform its operational missions. The reinforcement of major formations, tactical formations and units is achieved by the addition of new major formations, tactical formations and units; regrouping; attachment of reinforcements from the various armed forces, arms of the service, specialized support troops; employment of a senior commander's assets in support of the operations of a major formation, tactical formation or unit. Regrouping involves the transfer of forces from one commander to another, by decision of a senior commander. Forces reassigned as reinforcements are temporarily subordinated to the commander, while supporting forces remain subordinate to their immediate superiors.
