secondary radar

avia. A radar system wherein a radio signal transmitted from the radar station initiates the transmission of a radio signal from another station.
avia., Canada A radar system that requires complementary aircraft equipment transponder. The transponder generates a coded reply signal in response to transmissions from the ground station interrogator.
