time deposits (a deposit in a bank account that cannot be withdrawn before a set date or for which notice of withdrawal is required. NOED. A deposit in a US bank or other financial institution where the depositor is required to give notice of withdrawal, or is subject to an interest penalty in lieu of notice. The UK equivalent is deposit account. OE. A deposit of money in an interest-bearing account for a specified period. In the USA, a time deposit requires at least 30 days' notice of withdrawal.
